Ohio Building Officials Association (OBOA)
The Ohio Building Officials Association (OBOA) is seeking a lobbyist or lobbying firm to provide the following services:
- Monitor the introduction of bills in the Ohio General Assembly to identify any that affect building and fire codes and notify OBOA of such bills;
- Draft legislation to be introduced in the Ohio General Assembly on behalf of OBOA, obtain bill sponsors, and lobby the appropriate legislators;
- Maintain regular communication with the OBOA Legislative Committee Chair, President, and key Board of Directors leaders regarding legislation pending in the Ohio General Assembly that could affect building and fire codes;
- Communicate with ICC for advocacy support from a national perspective;
- Monitor and notify OBOA of any public hearings to be held on bills or proposed regulations by either the legislative or executive branches of Ohio state government;
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of testimony to relevant legislative committees;
- Identify potential stakeholders and develop relationships between OBOA and peer groups for coalition building to advance OBOA’s legislative agenda;
- Attend regulatory board and other meetings conducting business germane to building and fire codes;
- Attend meetings of the OAPA Board of Directors, upon request of the President, to give updates on legislative and regulatory issues;
- Represent OBOA on related issues in meetings with other building officials, state government officials, and special committees; and
- Prepare reports summarizing work on behalf of OBOA.
